New Form of Scrapie Found in Sheep

A new form of the sheep disease scrapie has been detected in Britain, officials said today.

The unknown strain was first spotted last year, since when there have been more than 80 cases.

There was initial speculation the mystery disease could be BSE, which has not been found to occur naturally in sheep.
