Producers are reminded to visit their county Farm Service Agency (FSA) office to sign up for the Ewe-Lamb Replacement and Retention Program.

The program pays eligible producers $18 per head for ewe lambs purchased or retained between Aug. 1, 2003, and July 31, 2004.

The latest information from FSA indicates that the final rule will be published shortly, which will designate the deadline for applications.

“We understand the county offices will be loading the manual applications to electronic format. Hopefully, they can finish the application process quickly so payment can be made this month. However, it could be early January given the fact that we are already nearly half-way through December,” stated Peter Orwick, executive director for the American Sheep Industry Association.
