GeneThera Hopeful of Support for Rapid Live Animal Blood Test for TSE

GeneThera, Inc. (OTCBB: GTHA) to set up protocol for validation of their rapid live animal blood test for TSE. TSE is the family of diseases that includes Mad Cow disease, Chronic Wasting disease, Creutzfeld-Jakob disease, and Scrapie.

GeneThera's rapid live animal blood test could provide results within 12 hours in contrast to existing methods which may take between 4 and 7 days. The test uses proprietary technology for detection and quantification of a genetic marker related to TSE. The test has currently only been internally validated, but GeneThera hopes to gain cooperation for an extensive study to determine the efficacy of their test.

If the USDA would allow the private sector to test for Mad Cow Disease, GeneThera plans to use their test in conjunction with post-mortem tests, like BioRad Laboratories (AMEX: BIO) and Prionics AG. This would enable the prescreening and retesting of potentially diseased animals prior to shipping. Once cattle are slaughtered, current approved tests could be used thus attaining the highest degree of certainty of the safety of beef products for human consumption.
