A medical manufacturer has
signed a deal with the wool industry, to help produce an alternative to
mulesing.
At the moment, growers use shears to cut away the skin from a sheep's
backside, which then scars, leaving no wool for blowflies to target.
Norwood Abbey will build a device that looks like a hand-held drill, to
apply a new protein which should achieve the same result.
The company's Bernie Romanin says it means wool growers won't have to use
needles to inject the protein.
