Register Livestock Premises Now

Fond du Lac and Dodge County farmers who house, keep or co-mingle livestock can register their premises now as part of an effort by the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium (WLIC).

The consortium is the statewide organization assisting farmers, meat packers and all others who house or move animals on their properties to register their sites in preparation for meeting the Wisconsin Premises Registration Act.

The Wisconsin Premises Registration Act defines livestock as cattle, swine, poultry, sheep, goats, horses, farm-raised deer (and other cervidea), bison, llamas (and other camelids), ratites (such as emus), ostriches and fish.

The act requires all state premises be registered by Nov. 1, 2005, but sooner is better in this case.
