AASRP
renews management services agreement with NIAA The
American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners (AASRP) has announced
that it has renewed its agreement with the National Institute for Animal
Agriculture (NIAA) for management and administrative services. AASRP
President Richard Stobaeus, Jr., DVM, of Brunswick, Ga., made the
announcement following the association's annual meeting held in Nashville
in July. NIAA
began providing membership support, financial management and general
administrative services to AASRP in 2001.
The AASRP Board of Directors voted unanimously to renew the
agreement for another one-year term, citing excellent service by NIAA and
its staff. "A
well-established trend in the association world is to find other
associations with similar interests and consolidate business operations,
while maintaining autonomy," said NIAA President and Chief Executive
Officer Glenn N. Slack. He
said this is usually done through various degrees of sharing staff
resources, consolidating office operations, office/computer equipment,
telecommunication services, etc. "NIAA
is a full-service, membership-based association with a well-trained staff,
so we are positioned to provide similar services for other
associations," said Slack. "We look forward to continuing our close working
relationship with AASRP and its members." AASRP's
mission is to improve the health and welfare of sheep, goats, cervids and
camelids, to further the professional development of the members, provide
resources to evaluate the standards of small ruminant practice and to be
the voice for small ruminant issues.
AASRP represents over 1,000 veterinarians throughout the United
States and abroad. # |
