Student Representative Program Guidelines

Eligibility

An applicant must be a second year veterinary student attending an AVMA accredited U.S. or Canadian veterinary school. An applicant must also have a strong interest in small ruminants and/or camelids.

Responsibilities

  • Serve two consecutive years as an AASRP student representative (first as a second
    year veterinary student then continue as a third year student)
  • Organize at least one event at your college each year that promotes AASRP membership
    • This can be an educational talk, wet-lab, field trip, etc. at which you or a speaker spend time discussing the membership benefits of AASR
  • Provide AASRP with current contact information for you and any small ruminant related clubs at your college
  • Be available to disseminate information from AASRP to students and faculty at your college 
  • Communicate student interests, concerns, and needs to AASRP
  • Mentor the next AASRP student representative after they are selected next year
    • Starting next year, each college will have two representatives, one third year and one second year student

Application Process

  • Fill out the application form, which should include a letter of intent and a current digital photo of yourself  
  • Submit your application, your AASRP college liaison will review all applications and select the AASRP student representative for your college
  • The selected application will then be forwarded to AASRP by your college liaison and you will be notified.
